In June 2011 I finished in Kampala and moved to Hairy Lemon Island where I lived for the next 7 months. I don't really know how to describe the Lemon as it was so absolutely beautiful and I loved working there so much that I cannot begin to put the million photos up here that the Lemon deserves so I guess I'll just outline a typical day on the Lemon for me and that might give you and idea ...

In my time at the Lemon I lived in a tent (proper), Sam's Shack, a tent (no walls) and in a hammock. All were amazing and I'm going to miss my nights with the rush of the water.
Then I'd head for breakfast (later on I started getting up at 6.30 and doing two hours study!! Other times I would get up early and go and have my tea in the middle of the river). I would always see some red tailed monkeys on the way to the dining area ... and if I was lucky the African Finfoot ...
| This was my favorite table 'The French Riviera' |
Then I would wander around the island making sure that all the rooms were being prepared, I would go to The Bern Cave and The Yak Shack (both named and painted by me!) ... maybe doing some slack-lining on the way ...
I would go and have a look and make sure the tree seedlings that we had planted on the other islands were growing and if people wanted to come along for the ride I took them with...
Come lunch we would all collect in the dining area for the delicious lunch that either Grace or Asad cooked ... then it was off to one of the chill outs for half and hour ziz ... there are birds all around, the photos show just a few of the amazing variety of species that we get ... the monkeys spent the afternoon playing as well.
Afternoon was running bar, cleaning up, doing bookings and emails if they needed doing, phone calls (we had to climb the hill for signal) and then if there was time out to the wave mostly in the sit-on-top ... but also to watch the kayakers
Most evenings were really quiet but sometimes there were crazy parties and Bujagali sunsets ... and some evening roast pig on a spit ...
Then it was back to my hammock with Elsa to sleep through to a bird loud morning ...
